1.
Preamble
 

Research reflects the intellectual strength of the Institute, its response towards the problems in society and vision of the Institute. Jaypee University of Engineering & Technology is fully committed to promote research and development activities, by creating a vibrant research environment in the campus that encourages research, innovations and entrepreneurship. The University is implementing specific and goal- oriented research activities and schemes to be undertaken by the faculty members independently or collaboratively involving industries/corporate, students and other academic/research Institutions of repute as per research guidelines.

Objectives
 

•  To emerge as a leading Institution in research, development and innovations.

 

•  Create a research culture to develop passion with openness, flexibility with simplified and encouraging policies with adequate infrastructure.

 

•  To conduct responsible and ethical research.

 

•  To encourage quality publications in peer reviewed journals, periodicals and conferences, file patents and transfer knowledge/technology to industry/corporate.

 

•  To promote collaborative research projects and consultancy with industry/corporate.

 

•  To promote interdisciplinary research involving various disciplines.

 

•  To nurture an atmosphere for undertaking socially useful and productive research.

The Research Promotion Policy Statement
 

To create, build and sustain an overall framework, environment and provide guidelines that enable JUET to realize its vision through research and innovative activities.

   
4.
Research Guidelines
  4.1 Research Promotin and Monitoring Committee
   

The University has constituted following committees to monitor the research work and promote quality and ethics in research:

    (a). Doctoral Program Monitoring Committee (DPMC)
     

A separate DPMC for each Ph.D. scholar is constituted as per the following constitution:

     

•  Dean (Academic & Research)

     

•  HOD

     

•  Supervisor(s)

     

•  Two faculty member of the department

     

•  One faculty member from an allied department

     

Functions of DPMC are as follows:

     

•  To allot and review the course work of the Ph.D scholars.

     

•  To review the progress of Ph.D. scholar through semester presentation and advise suitably.

     

•  To review the entire work done by the Ph.D. scholar when the scholar is prepared to submit synopsis and make suitable recommendations regarding submission of synopsis by the scholar.

     

• To assess and advise for improvement of the synopsis after the synopsis presentation by the Ph.D. Scholar.

     

•  To be a part of the committee to evaluate the final viva of the scholar and to suitably recommend for the award of degree.

     

•  To consider the request of the scholar for conversion from full time to part time, if any, and recommend the same suitably, considering suitability of the workplace of the scholar for required research facilities.

       
    (b)

Mulya Pravah Committee

     
The objective of this committee is to inculcate Human Values and Professional & Research Ethics in research scholars, PG and UG students. This committee organizes seminars and workshops on regular basis.
       
    (c) CARE (Consortium for Academic and Research Ethics) Committee
     
The objective of this committee is to motivate and facilitate research scholars, PG and UG students to publish their research work in referred and reputed research Journals.
       
   
(d)

Departmental Academic Integrity Panel (DAIP) and Institutional Academic Integrity Panel (IAIP)

     
The objective of this committee is to promote academic integrity and prevention of plagiarism in the institution as per UGC guidelines. If any member of the academic community suspects with appropriate proof that a case of plagiarism has happened in any document, he or she shall report it to the Departmental Academic Integrity Panel (DAIP). Upon receipt of such a complaint or allegation the DAIP shall investigate the matter and submit its recommendations to the Institutional Academic Integrity Panel (IAIP) of the HEI. The authorities of HEI can also take suo-moto notice of an act of plagiarism and initiate proceedings under these regulations. Similarly, proceedings can also be initiated by the HEI on the basis of findings of an examiner. All such cases will be investigated by the IAIP.
       
  4.2 Promotion of Research:
    (a) Registration of Faculty Members for PhD
     

The faculty members without Ph.D degree are encouraged to register for Doctoral Program.

       
    (b) Sponsored Research Projects :
     
The Institute encourages sponsored research projects to be undertaken by the faculty. Principal Investigators (PIs) of such projects are supported and encouraged through following measures and facilities:
     

•  Free and on the call extension of Institutional facilities.

     

•  Dedicated laboratory space allocation to PIs.

     

•  Freedom to PIs in matters of procurement, selection of project staff, and utilization of contingency and overhead funds.

     

•  Simplified speedy sanction of purchases

     

•  Timely auditing of project accounts and issue of utilization certificates

    (c)
Interdisciplinary Research:
     
Jaypee University of Engineering and Technology is promoting collaborative research with National/ International Organizations / Institutions of high repute.
     
    (d)
Provision of Duty Leave :
     

The Institute provides ten days duty leaves per year to each faculty member for attending workshops, conferences and other academic work.

       
    (e) Institute facilitates Researchers of Eminence to visit the Campus:
     
In order to sensitize faculty and research scholars towards the need for individual, group, interdisciplinary and sponsored research, national and international workshops/ seminars, visits of experts from premier institutions of India and abroad are organized from time to time. Experts are invited to deliver lectures, and conduct workshops for scholars and faculty.
       
    (f) National and International Conferences:
     
The Institute organizes national and international conferences in various discipline in which eminent Scientists and Scholars from India and abroad participate.
       
    (g) The financial provisions made in the university budget:
     
JUET has made adequate financial provisions to support research. The budget provisions are made in following heads:
     

•  Purchase of Research Equipment, Software and Consumables

     

•  Subscription to research Journals

     

•  PhD and PG Teaching Assistantships

     

•  Sponsorship for attending conferences/seminars/workshops to PhD, PG students

     

•  Seed money as a part of salary in the form of Books and Periodicals

       
    (h) Encouragement to file Patents:
     
JUET encourages faculty and students to innovate and protect their ideas/research work via patents and other forms of IPR.
       
    (i) Researc h Facilities:
     
JUET envisions to become an institution of excellence in imparting quality teaching to empowe r young generation with knowledge, skills and research attitude. The University is continuousl y makin g effort s t o improv e th e laborator y facilitie s fo r researc h an d innovativ e activitie s includin g IT infrastructure.
       
    (j) Research Credentials for Promotions of Faculty:
     
JUET has a policy for the internal promotions of the faculty giving due weightage to the research credentials. Each faculty member is required to fill an annual self appraisal form to show his/her research progress during the year.
       
    (k) Ethical Conduct in Research:
     
JUET has framed guidelines for ethical conduct in research. It has different committees namely, Mulya Pravah, CARE, IAIP and DAIP as mentioned above.
       
    (l) Provision of Certificate and Medals:
     
JUET provides certificate of appreciation and medals to recognize and encourage the faculty members, research scholars and students for publishing quality research / innovative work and participating in professional and social activities.
