Overview

The Department of Humanities & Social Sciences at JUET aims on developing well-equipped professionals through the development of communication, interpersonal, and management skills. As a Centre of Excellence, the department equips students with behavioral and professional capabilities necessary to become innovative and competitive leaders. Through a combination of conventional lectures and interactive approaches, the department develops students' soft skills as well as management skills, helping them achieve success in their profession.

2. Practical Learning – Interactive activities like group discussion, mock interviews, Role Plays, debates, and case studies.

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)

Program Educational Objectives (PEO):

PEO-1: To provide core theoretical knowledge and practical exposure in the area of Business Administration to help students excel in their professional career, pursuit of higher studies, or their entrepreneurial endeavours.

PEO-2: To enable the students to use existing knowledge and create new knowledge using multiple disciplines in solving real-life business problems.

PEO-3: To develop professional attitude and ethical competencies, so that the students would be able to face work-life and personal challenges with utmost grace and make a positive impact on the environment and society.

Programme Outcomes(PO):

PO-1: Management Knowledge: Apply the knowledge of management principles, business fundamentals, and specialization to solve complex business problems.

PO-2: Problem Analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex business problems reaching substantiated conclusions using management theories and strategies.

PO-3: Decision Making and Strategic Planning: Design solutions for business challenges and develop strategic plans that meet the needs of various stakeholders with appropriate consideration for ethics, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility.

PO-4: Research and Data Analysis: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions.

PO-5: Modern Business Tools: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern management and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex business activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO-6: Business and Society: Apply reasoning informed by contextual knowledge to assess societal, economic, legal, and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional business practice.

PO-7: Sustainability and Ethics: Understand the impact of professional business solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge of and the need for sustainable development.

PO-8: Professional Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics, responsibilities, and norms of the business practice.

PO-9: Individual and Teamwork: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

PO-10: Communication: Communicate effectively on complex business activities with the business community and society at large, such as being able to comprehend and write effective reports and business documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

PO-11: Project Management and Finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of management and finance principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects in multidisciplinary environments.

PO-12: Life-long Learning: Recognize the need for and have the preparation and ability to engage in independent and life-long learning in the broadest context of global business changes.

PSO-1: A student will be able to identify, design, and develop suitable business strategies and management frameworks to process, analyze, and synthesize business-related information.

PSO-2: A student will be able to make use of knowledge from multiple disciplines to propose viable business solutions for a variety of problems in the global market.

Ph.D. – Humanities & Social Sciences

The University has a well-structured system for promoting and monitoring research on campus. A dedicated research committee, known as the DPMC, is formed for each scholar and is assigned clearly defined responsibilities, including providing guidance and oversight throughout the research process. All Ph.D. scholars are required to adhere to UGC publication norms. The University also has a comprehensive policy in place to prevent malpractices and plagiarism in accordance with UGC guidelines. A well-defined Code of Ethics governs research activities, and its implementation is ensured through multiple measures. These include a mandatory credit course on research and publication ethics—required for all Ph.D. scholars—and regular oversight by institutional ethics committees.

Laboratory

The Language Lab is equipped to improve students' skills in Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing (LSRW), Grammar, and Vocabulary (GV) through interactive tests, activities, exercises, and web-based learning systems. It combines English language learning with engineering courses to develop all-around skills. With state-of-the-art teaching materials and advanced software, the centrally air-conditioned lab offers a quality learning environment. The lab works to enhance language proficiency with computer-based learning, focus on English as a medium of academic achievement, assist in overcoming anxiety relating to language, and develop confidence for placements through presentations, group discussions, debates, and mock interviews. With specialized software, it improves speaking English, pronunciation, and interactive learning. Major aspects include Conversational English training, Soft Skills, Decision-Making, Business Communication, Corporate Readiness, Resume and Email Writing, PPT Preparation, and others, which prepare students to face professional and academic challenges.
